Making an Appointment

Appointments can be made by telephoning our main reception line during our opening hours or online (see below) 24 hrs a day.

  • We will do our best to offer you an appointment with the doctor of your choice within 48 hours.
  • Urgent appointments will be seen the same day by whichever doctor is available.
  • Routine appointments can be made up to several weeks in advance if you require.

Appointments to see the doctor are normally 10 minutes in length. We ask that when making an appointment you make one appointment for each family member who needs to see the doctor. If you feel that you may need more than 10 minutes please advise the receptionist when booking your appointment.

Often you will be asked the reason for making the appointment . This is not because he receptionists are nosy but rather to plan the appointments for that day better and to possibly offer some of the more convenient options available to you such as telephone advice or our minor ailment scheme. However if you prefer not to disclose the reason we will respect your confidentiality.

Cancelling your Appointment

Hundreds of appointments are wasted each month at the surgery when patients do not call to cancel their appointment. By calling to cancel your appointment, even at the last minute, it allows us to offer it to other patients who may need to urgently see the doctor that day. Repeatedly failing to attend your appointments may mean that you will be asked to leave the surgery.

Online Appointment Booking and Cancelling

You probably do your banking and book your holidays online. Why not book or cancel your appointment online? All you need to do is visit the surgery to receive your registration form with your unique ID and PIN number and it only take a few minutes to create your account. You can then book appointments with the GP of your choice, view your existing appointments and cancel any appointments that you have made online or over the telephone. No hassle, no busy lines and you can book 24 hours a day. We regret that at this time it is not possible to book appointments with the nurse although you may view and cancel appointments made by telephone.

The practice nurses are available for the following appointments:

  • Confidential family planning and contraception
  • Healthy lifestyle advice and checks
